modHouse.biz is the website for architect Jonathan Elmore and modHouse, a residential project delivery initiative focused on sustainable, modern architecture.  Sustainability is a core value for me because the construction and operation of buildings accounts for 40% of the world's energy consumption and 33% of CO2 emissions.  As a practicing architect, my goal is to create architecture that is sustainable and gives clients a unique place of their own.

New project almost finished and 403 getting LEED certified

Our latest project, Bean Work/Play Cafe', is nearing completion.  Bean is a new concept by owner Adela Yelton incorporating on demand daycare with work space for parents.  The flagship location is at 134 New Street, Decatur, Georgia, in the East Decatur Station development.  Incidentally, East Decatur Station recently installed a 147 kilowatt solar array to supplement tenant power needs.

In other news, the 403 Callan residence is receiving LEED certification at last, making it one of only a handful of homes to be certified in Georgia.  Big congratulations to the owners for going the extra mile and building a modern, earth friendly home.

And lastly, the time is now to recycle your home.  With home sales and construction down, moving is not currently the best option for most people.  And with utility costs threatening to go up, why not recycle your existing home to be more spacious and energy efficient?  Check out what we did with an existing ranch home on the reRanch page and if you like it, give us a call to come by your house in the metro Atlanta area to discuss what we can do to improve your home for modern living.
