reRanch is a new initiative led by modHouse focused on renovating and renewing existing Ranch style homes. Ranch
homes are beloved American icons, but frequently seem dark inside with long narrow living spaces. At 1094 Berkeley,
we removed the center wall between the living room and den to create a single spacious living area, added a wood beam for
the new vaulted ceiling, and added six Velux skylights. In the kitchen, dining room, and master bedroom, we pushed up
the ceiling in the middle and added two Velux skylights to each room for more volume and natural daylighting. Sprayed
foam insulation was added to the entire underside of the roof to improve energy efficiency. We also added new windows
and sliding, patio doors to replace leaky aluminum units. Our interior designer, Connie Raines, selected vibrant colors
that enervate and define each room. The result is a completely transformed home that was done affordably and is saving
money every month through lower utility costs.
